OMC Gallery for Contemporary Art 7561 Center Ave. #32, Huntington Beach, CA 92647 714-421-0476 | 310-929-5283 | mail@omc-llc.com | bdoan@lbcc.edu From Within. A selection of thirty contemporary and fine art photographs, twenty-seven photographers, one school. Only a stone’s throw away from Long Beach City College and much a much further hurl from LACMA. Modern art has never been defined by boundaries, mental or physical, government enforced or socially implied. Art exists everywhere and nowhere but From Within . The formidable Long Beach City College Photo Club exhibition is being shown locally at the renowned OMC Gallery for Contemporary Art in Huntington Beach's Old World. The group work upholds photographs in essence, of inner expression, melded with societal and economic frustration. A notion wielded by the students to establish a solid ground for intrigue and interest. Photographic Resource Center at Boston University’s board director and project manager Jason Landry, a juror for From Within, says “The narrative and the performance are two distinct aspects that appear in this grouping of images and are featured in many contemporary photographs. Once you have seen a certain photographer’s images, over time you are able to pick up on their characteristics and idiosyncrasies that define the artist’s style. It is evident that by studying photography, looking through photography books, visiting galleries and attending lecturers, these students understand how to utilize the elements of photography combined with their personal experiences to make their own images sing!” The gallery is located off the 405 freeway and Beach Blvd, next to Bella Terra Mall, and is available for viewing from November 4th through November 28th. Please join the students of LBCC for Photography, art, and refreshments at the opening reception on November 5th at 6 PM.
