Trustee Otto Advances CCLC

Long Beach Community College District Trustee Doug Otto recently completed his term as president of the Community College League of California’s (CCLC) Board of Directors.

In this role, Otto provided leadership to the statewide board of community college trustees and served as the primary spokesperson on behalf of the League’s Trustees’ group. His term was one year.

“Doug’s wealth of experience, education and background brought an effective strategic outlook and focus,” said Larry Galizio, President and CEO of the CCLC. “He has an incredible work ethic.”

As the leader of the CCLC trustee board, Otto championed a number of areas: quality academics, student success, open educational resources and national representation in Washington, D.C., said Galizio. Otto also improved the CCLC’s relationship with California Community College Athletic Association, Galizio said, increasing transparency and communication.

“Doug brought a strong desire to look at what trustees can do pragmatically to facilitate student success,” Galizio said. “He took time to get to know as many people as possible [to] understand what their concerns and issues were.”

Trustee Otto is succeeded by Trustee Ann Ransford from Glendale Community College.
