LBUSD & LBCC Host Contractor Outreach Fair

Dozens of construction companies and trade industry representatives are expected to participate July 18 in the first Contractor Outreach Fair, co-sponsored by Long Beach Unified School District and Long Beach City College.

The event is free and open to anyone interested in contracting with one or both organizations on new school construction and renovation projects funded by recent local bond initiatives approved by voters.

The outreach fair runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18 in the gymnasium at Lindsey Academy, 5075 Daisy Ave., Long Beach 90808.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to prequalify for work and receive project specific plans. General contractors for lease/leaseback projects will also be recruiting for specific trades.

LBUSD and LBCC have dozens of projects coming up in the next year, including air conditioning, infrastructure upgrades, installation of artificial turf and fields, and modernization.

“The event will give local firms the knowledge and information they need to bid on school and college district contracts,” said Ann-Marie Gabel, LBCC Vice President of Administrative Services. “Our goal is to have more Long Beach-area companies and individuals working with us in developing our critical educational infrastructure projects and buildings in the coming years.”

“Our goal is to make sure local people in construction trades are aware of the benefits of working on school district and college projects in Long Beach,” said Alan Reising, executive director of Facilities Planning and Development for LBUSD.
